PLANNING FOR PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURAL SERVICES IN THE CITY CENTRE OF RICHMOND
A number of factors are driving the need to plan for parks and recreation and cultural facilities in the City Centre, including a changing and rapidly growing community, aging infrastructure and the development of the Richmond Oval and surrounding neighbourhood.
You are invited to attend an educational forum on planning for the future of parks, recreation and cultural services in the City Centre of Richmond.

City staff will discuss opportunities to integrate parks, recreation and cultural services into an urban area as well as current challenges that exist. This forum is designed to familiarize you with:
- background information about the area
- trends that will influence planning and design
- the guiding principles for planning for parks, recreation & cultural services in City Centre.
Forum Highlights:
City staff will share their knowledge and understanding of the following topics that may influence planning in City Centre.
- Current and changing demographics
- Major projects currently underway
- Best practices in urban environments
City Centre Guiding Principles
The following statements provide a framework for future planning and common language for City staff and community partners to use in future discussion of City Centre.
1. Recognize our unique urban environment
2. Plan for sustainable development
3. Balance current and emerging needs
Next Steps
A second forum will be held in June to receive feedback on the proposed plan for parks, recreation and cultural services in the City Centre. Further details will be made available closer to the date.
