Meet & Greet Planning Meeting
September 13, 2007 (Thursday), 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Room M1002, Richmond City Hall
(1) Attending
Michael Yue, Sylvia Tremblay, Arthur Cheung, De Whalen, Jessica Wu, Patricia Wang, Gerardo R.H., Diane Zhang
(2) New participants
We welcomed De Whalen (President of the Richmond Women's Resource Centre).
(3) Completed Planning Tasks
· RCEN brochure and the Meet and Greet poster were created. A draft program for event participants on that evening was also created. (See attached.)
· Venue was secured: Seniors Lounge, South Arm Community Centre
· Historian was secured: name to be confirmed with Alan Hill
· Family Services of Greater Vancouver (thanks to Sylvia) will support Food and Refreshment for up to $500.
· Jessica has created a Registration Form for the event.
(4) Follow Up From Previous Meeting
· Michael will contact Francis Li from SUCCESS to seek participation from Chinese groups.
· Michael will contact the Richmond Review and Richmond News.
· Michael will write a Press Release in English and Patricia will translate it into Chinese. Meena and Patricia will liaise with the Chinese media.
· There is an opportunity to apply for funding from Coast Capital Savings. Michael will write the proposal (deadline is September 20).
· Arthur will check out the venue. Michael will work with Arthur about room setting and equipment.
· Michael will continue his attempt to contact the Musqueam Nation. He sent an introductory email to the contact person but has not received any reply yet. We may not have their presence at the event.
· Michael will present to the Richmond Intercultural Advisory Committee on Sept 20. Two RIAC members (including the Chair) have already RSVP for the event after Alan sent out the brochure and poster to the committee.
(5) More Tasks
Food and Refreshment
Gerardo and De will pick the caterer and decide on the menu. They will communicate closely with Sylvia in case the caterer has to be paid out before we obtain funding.
Living in Richmond: Story Telling
De and Diane will work together to determine the format for the story telling section.
Small Group Sharing:
Sylvia, De, and Arthur - as facilitators / resource persons - will suggest questions that will guide the small group discussions. Gerardo, Patricia and Jessica agreed to be the notetakers.
